Basil has been going to Portfield for nearly two years. He has a great time and loves his teachers and friends. Basil has been diagnosed with skeletal dysplasia and the nursery were instrumental in identifying one of the initial indicators that something was amiss. There were also previous concerns about cerebral palsy (identified at birth) and the nursery accommodated our physiotherapist visiting the nursery and creating an exercise for the staff to follow with Basil.

We love the nursery because it gives Basil lots of variety to his day and lots of time outdoors whatever the weather. His speech is really well developed and I credit the nursery for that. He’s even picked up a bit of French! We are also very happy with the updates we get from the nursery particularly the daily texts.

Overall we are very happy with the nursery and would recommend it to anyone.

We are absolutely thrilled with the genuine care that our daughter Eve is given at Portfield Farm.

Since joining in October of last year her speech and understanding has come on leaps and bounds. I love that she spends so much time outdoors in nature, and is developing a real interest in the world around her.

Being the only young child at home, Eve socialising at nursery is hugely important. We like how Portfield values kindness and support their ways of resolution between children.

We feel part of a community at Portfield, and look forward to more events being planned in the future now that covid restrictions have eased.

The daily updates are great, I love the photos of Eve and share some of her solo photos with family members. I know of other parents of children in childcare settings who do not get this and so I know how lucky we are. We frequently use these messages as a topic of conversation with Eve.

We would highly recommend Portfield Farm to any parents. It is a very genuinely caring and safe place for our daughter.

The nursery has plenty of resources to educate the children in the best form ever. There, they cater the needs of every children in any shape of form. It starts with the work ethos that is based on an outstanding communication between the staff and the parents where every conversation matter, you feel totally listened to and time is taken to converse with us, even about the rainbow in the sky. It carries on with how the children are taken care of, the fresh air, walks to the woods, farm animals, life in the country side from a tadpole to a frog or the farm’s lambs first outings, gardening, all the art and craft in the world and 1-2-1 learning when it comes down the serious stuff! My daughter has even showed me few yoga moves!! We also recently visited the Wild life centre, where we saw a show of wild owls and it was outstanding. Furthermore, the food that is served there is totally plant based which is handy for giving our kids all the right amount of fibres. I was even able to take to nursery an home made fruit concoction for my daughter to help her with her transit as she struggles with that aspect of life, and it was a huge relief to know that even outside the home I can carry through some form of control over what she eats, personal to me I know but important to me. I cannot fault the nursery, we are so privilege and so grateful that our daughter has a start in life like this, we have chosen to defer her start at pre-school at our local school as we believe she will gain more than just free classroom based and poor outdoory education.

Portfield Farm nursery really is a unique place and I have no regrets about choosing it for both my sons. My youngest is still there. He is full of energy and loves being outside so it is the perfect option. They spend lots of time outside exploring the woodland, feeding Solo the horse, walking Jasper the dog, ‘helping’ with the vegetable garden! The staff are wonderfully engaging and clearly have a passion for working with children. I never worry about him when he’s there and he always comes home tired but happy.

Lovely place with great attention paid to each child due to small group setting. The natural surroundings make it a very unique nursery, great for inquisitive minds and adventurous little ones! The variety of the activities experienced each day was fantastic! X

Our daughter has had the most amazing time at Portfield Farm and I can’t recommend it highly enough! From our very first visit we felt it was a magical place – indoors it’s a cosy home from home and outside the children are able to explore and play in amazing garden, woods and field (and probably the largest sandpit we have ever come across!). The children benefit so much from loads of time outdoors – feeding and brushing Solo the horse and taking Jasper the puppy for walks, taking care of their garden and vegetable patch (many times our daughter brought home delights such as fresh herbs or potatoes for us to enjoy too!), going on ‘bug hunts’, making acorn necklaces and mud sculptures, jumping in leaves..and generally having a great time in the fresh air. Mandy and the rest of the staff at Portfield Farm have been absolutely wonderful and we always felt our daughter was in very safe hands. We are now looking forward to our youngest daughter joining the Portfield Farm family this Summer term and experiencing the magic too:)

Our daughter was very happy at Portfield Farm from September 2016 to July 2017. We would certainly recommend it to anyone who has a child that loves being outdoors surrounded by nature! It is set in a lovely home with a great outdoor area with excellent play equipment including a playhouse and sand pit. The surroundings are safe and secure and it has a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. It is surrounded by beautiful fields with a lovely forest and wooded area to inspire interest in and respect for nature. Our daughter loved the resident horse, dog and cat and learnt how to care for and respect animals. There are lots of outdoor activity opportunities with space to run around. Our daughter enjoyed den building in the forest and planting, caring for and picking vegetables, which were then used in the children’s meals. We loved that our daughter learned about caring for the environment, healthy food choices and developing a good relationship with food. Indoors there are lots of opportunities to inspire creativity and encourage role play. Our daughter loved creating her own stories, which were made into books and working with arts and crafts. She often brought home a beautifully made piece of art work! On the academic side she regularly practised reading and writing letters and numbers and began learning phonics, which has been excellent preparation for school. Overall our daughter has had a happy time at Portfield Farm and has had many many positive experiences that have helped her to develop as a whole person and prepare her for her school start this year both academically and socially. Thank you so much Mandy and team! We look forward to visiting you soon!

Being the neurotic mother to my first born, choosing the right nursery was an absolute must! Portfield and the staff were welcoming, informative and so supportive as I found it hard to leave! My son absolutely loves it and I get ushered out the door after saying goodbye! Can’t recommend enough 🙂

So sad that my son had his last day here today. What an amazing 15 months he has had. Thanks to all the staff, home from home comfort while learning xx
