Portfield Farm Nursery & Forest School is nestled in the Surrey countryside. You can find us in Outwood; near Redhill, Reigate, and Horley. We believe that a childhood should be enjoyed both indoors and outdoors. Here, we pride ourselves on allowing our children to have learning experiences, friendships, and memories that will last a lifetime.
We are a small, family run nursery and forest school that has a firm ethos in allowing children to use their formative years to the max. Parents of children from 6 months to 5 years are able to bring their children to our lovely setting. We play in our field, tend our vegetable patch, and play with our pets and wildlife. Our days are spent both outdoors and in learning from the OFSTED EYFS, learning from our wonderful outdoors, and walking our puppy.
Filmed across a single day, come and see how our children at our nursery and forest school pass their days!
Preschool teaches our children from 2 years – 4 years and 11 months using nature and traditional methods. We believe that the children can learn from both manmade materiel; books, songs, etc., and from nature itself. Our toddlers plant and maintain vegetables in their patch; they help to look after the preschool pets; and enjoy traditional pass-times such as story time.
Activities include:
And many more!
All of the children at our nursery & forest school enjoy everything that the outdoors has to offer from their very first day. By playing outside with each other, the children learn to:
And so much more!
It could not be easier to book a place at our nursery & forest school. Just give us a call on 07427 633238 and book a viewing. We are more than happy to show prospective parents around our little patch of heaven.
When your child first starts, they will have a Settling In Day. Here they will be able to relax into their new setting and enjoy all of what we have to offer.
Alison Ward4 May 2023This nursery is absolutely outstanding. We took our toddler out of a much bigger setting and she has gone from strength to strength. She often asks at the weekend “am I going to nursery today?” and looks really disappointed when we tell her she isn’t! The staff are so caring and attentive and the communication is amazing. My toddler has had so many wonderful experiences, seeing baby lambs and feeding sheep, jumping in muddy puddles, growing her own vegetables, doing yoga, arts and crafts and lots of toys to play with. Couldn’t be happier and my child’s delight when she skips into nursery is testament to the great work of the staff. Highly recommended!Dean Mendum4 May 2023Outstanding nursery and so pleased our little one attends. Highly recommended and could not fault it at all.Anna Odedun17 March 2023Our daughter has settled really well at Portfield farm, has made positive relationships with staff and other children and loves all the fun they get up to!zoe Hall9 March 2023Our daughter loves going to Portfield farm nursery. She has the opportunity to be outside each day and explore nature and local wildlife which she just wouldn’t get in a non forest school environment. The photos we get each day are unique to this environment and they get experiences a lot of children wouldn’t due to the amazing setting and small family like environment. She has learnt to interact and respect/look after and play with children of all nursery ages here which has helped her develop a friendly and nurturing personality. The day staff are all really lovely and Liz runs the day to day operations smoothly and it is easy to contact her when needed.Hannah Holland5 March 2023Both my children have loved going to Portfield. They are always smiley and happy to go. All the ladies who look after them clearly care about the children and go the extra mile. I love the outdoor space there, and they get to see some farm animals and go on lovely walks. On my son's birthday, they sent him a video of all the children singing happy birthday to him. It was so lovely.Laura Mansell3 March 2023Portfield Farm Nursery is a wonderful place for children to learn and grown. My daughter absolutely loves it, especially all of the outdoor adventures they go on into the woods and to see the animals. We love that she gets to have these experiences every week!Paul Martin1 March 2023Our son has been going to Portfield Farm for a few weeks and absolutely loves it.Chris Odedun1 March 2023Lovely setting, gently encouraging of kids interacting with nature every single dayWozza Fan10 September 2017My daughter works here and it sounds amazing. If my children were small this is where they would go. Kids have to just get out there and learn. Portfield Farm Nursery understands what real children need (and it doesn't have to be plugged in or connected to WiFi to be fun)
